Crayon Perspective

This book was suggested to me by a fellow blogger and I LOVED it!

It's letters from various colors of crayons with their feelings (ie-blue is used way to much and pink way too rarely). And peach, well, let's just say that was my kiddos' favorite one. I never thought about the crayon perspective before and I don't think my students have either. Now they literally apologize to their crayons if they break off their tip! :)

I asked them to write a letter to themselves (I covered their names) from a school supply other than a crayon. This is what they came up with:

From the folder-stop putting so much paper in me.

Pencil sharpener: this kid said he was going to throw me in the hallway-help me please friend.

Big eraser here-you never use me, please one time is enough.

Ruler: you never use me very much. I want you to use me often, from Ruler.

I know you don't use me, your teacher is not allowing markers.

It's me, glue stick. I hate gluing things, can you use me to write?

I love how their voice totally comes through! That's something we've been working on.

  1. These. Are. Hi-LARIOUS! I love this. I can not wait to try this with my kids! I think you should do a bunch of activities today using the poor ruler and markers :)
