Teacher Appreciation

I always wondered who came up with Teacher Appreciation Week. I'm not saying we don't deserve appreciation, but there are certainly people who do other jobs every day that are also meaningful and I don't hear about weeks of appreciation for them. But I'll take it! :)

I have a parent this year who really outdid herself on the creative gifts. I have received a gift every day that obviously had thought and effort put into them. Look how cute:

It has nail accessories inside! :)
                                               Filled with Reese's Pieces.
I think this one is self-explanatory, but super-cute slogan, don't you think?

I also wanted to take a moment and express appreciation for some fellow bloggers out there who inspire me every day. I look at them as mentors of a kind-I look forward to reading and trying out their ideas!

Terri over at Engage Their Minds: http://engagetheirminds.wordpress.com/ -she and I have very similar philosophies and I steal resources from her all the time!

Tammy at: http://foreverin1st.blogspot.com/    -I look forward to her Saturday sayings every week. She has given me a lot of ideas particularly to step up my math instruction this year.

Barb over at: http://www.gradeonederful.com/ -not only will I be forever grateful for the beautiful blog design that she made me but I often find suggestions for books and poems to share with my kiddos from reading her posts!

Kimberley at http://1stinmaine.blogspot.com/ -she's doing a new blog series you might like to check out. I love reading blogs when people have opinions about things and are not afraid to express them. She has wonderful ideas especially about writing.

Sandy at: http://rubberbootsandelfshoes.blogspot.com/ . She teaches early childhood the way I wish we all could! I have to sneak some of her ideas into our curriculum, but it's a good reminder to me of how it can look when students aren't just made data points.

There are many others-I follow many, many blogs. I discover new ones every day! I appreciate the fact that you take the time to share your ideas and experiences so it can make us all better teachers! I know how not only time-consuming it is but also how much courage it takes to share those ideas with the world.

  1. I want to thank you for being one of my favorite blogs to read! I was not surprised to see your list above, I enjoy following all of them - only Engage Their Minds was unknown to me. I have not been faithful keeping up my blog this year, but the inspiration from so many amazing bloggers has kept me going through a difficult year. Thank you!!!!!!! Maria
