I Have a Dream....

This activity that I am going to share with you is a perfect example of how different classes can be. I do this activity almost every year in response to hearing Martin Luther King's speech. We talk about things that have changed over time and things that are still issues people have to deal with. I asked them to think of the big picture and to write about what they would like to see changed in society maybe 20 years in the future. In the past, students have written about changes we need in the environment, homeless people, homeless animals, etc. The answers I got from this class gave me a bit of a different perspective of how they envision the future-revolving around themselves!

I have a dream that I did not have a husband or kids. (She told me she wants peace and quiet when she gets old!)

I have a dream I had a twin sister.

....about the world so beautiful, and the dog.

...that I can make friends.

That I can see the stars because I have never seen it.

I have a dream that when I grow up I would have 2 kids and all of them could walk a dog.

....that everyone can pay attention.
