I feel like students tend to make the same crafts and do the same projects year after year on the 100th Day of School-collect 100 objects, dress like a 100 year old person.
If you are looking for some ways to add rigor to your activities-especially your writing prompts-- here are a few:
Ethics-what would you do if you found a $100 bill? Would it make a difference if you found it in your driveway or in front of the police station?
Is it right to spend $100 on something frivolous-like a pair of shoes?
Do we treat 100 year old people fairly?
Multiple Perspectives-How does it feel to be the number 100-compared to other numbers? How would it feel to be 100 years old? Write a letter from the number 100? What does 100 dream about?
Rules-What is always true about the number 100?
Changes Over Time-what was life like 100 years ago? Compare what $100 would buy 100 years ago and today?
Divergent Art-Give the students the number 100 and ask them to turn it into something creative.
