Even seven and eight year olds learn better through play. It's the best way to practice oral language skills!
~Heather
The Meek MooseThe Meek Moosehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09764671511197083830noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8708538586034027731.post-69885046764542487982014-06-11T18:08:39.897-07:002014-06-11T18:08:39.897-07:00I love that you are still being a "little reb...I love that you are still being a "little rebel"! We do that song in our classroom almost every day and the kids love it! There always needs to be times that the kids are able to get up and move their bodies while also engaging their mind! I am so sad when I think about what we are expected to teach our students and then the restrictions that are put on how we are supposed to be teaching it. Isn't it our job to know our students and how they learn best? That is not sitting at their desks and writing full blown sentences with the correct end marks in the first nine weeks of kindergarten! Keep sneaking it in!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8708538586034027731.post-85590994036248515562014-06-11T07:07:51.664-07:002014-06-11T07:07:51.664-07:00Wow, those K standards you mentioned are kind of c...Wow, those K standards you mentioned are kind of crazy. What you're doing in the classroom is not. In fact, the word "authentic" comes to mind.
❀ Tammy
Forever in FirstTammyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18053983168084838303noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8708538586034027731.post-92035345061191556342014-06-11T06:38:34.566-07:002014-06-11T06:38:34.566-07:00Great post! It saddens me to no end that our two kindergarten teachers have taken housekeeping out of their rooms. One of the teachers, if you walked in her room, you would never even guess she taught kindergarten except for the tiny tables and it wouldn't surprise me if she went to desks one day. I try to make learning as fun as I can in first. It's no wonder some kids don't want to come to school.
Kelly
I'm Not Your Grandpa, I'm Your Teacher

Kellyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06877388703388130759noreply@blogger.com
