I tell my students all the time-they will need to be the ones to come up with innovative ways to save the earth. Whether it's fighting pollution or new ways to create energy-we are in trouble if these future generations don't step up and fight for us. Luckily, my students do show a lot of empathy toward nature and after a little bit of modeling I do think we have a few future treehuggers!
I wanted to share some books that would work for not only your Earth Day unit but could be included year round to emphasize caring for our environment.
Famous naturalists and the difference they made in the world:
All about trees and how we should take care of them.
Saving our precious resources like water:
And my all-time favorites-to show even kids can make a small difference in saving the Earth!

ReplyDeleteThey really embrace it too-they will tell older kids on the playground to pick up their trash, etc. Hopefully that's a message that will stay with them as they grow.
