OK-so I know the lights and candy canes are all put away already. But I really wanted to share some of the writing my kiddos did. The assignment was to write letters to Santa but there was a catch-- they couldn't ask for anything for themselves. I was just so impressed by the thoughtfulness in their responses. Usually the world revolves around them; they are only 6 and 7 years old.
I also love to see their spelling come along. To the outside eyes it may not seem like much, but they are at least applying the spelling patterns we've been learning much more. "Poor" might be spelled "pore"-but at least that shows they know the silent 'e' rule we've been working on. I've had these same kids since Kinder, so I know they started out with spelling dog "dg", etc. It's just so wonderful to see how much they've grown.
These are soooo so adorable. I love the spelling of "would" as "wood" haha. I would love to follow my kindergarten kids to first grade one year because I think it would be amazing to see that improvement!
ReplyDeleteI know, right! They are something else. I think the experience of looping will make me a better Kinder teacher because I see everything they need to know. Maybe they will let me do it every year-Kinder/First, back to Kinder. That would definitely keep it exciting anyway! :)
