Things I Love

I was watching Brainpop with my Little Dragons, and they chose to watch a video about Eloise Greenfield. Now, I have to admit, I had never heard of her before. They talked about her achievements and profiled this book:

I love finding good multi-cultural stories, because I truly believe the kids should be able to read books with characters who they can relate to because they look like them. This story also has good figurative language, if you are looking for a good mentor text for that. And it can definitely be read with Southern style-which I like as well!

The character in the story is talking about about things she loves like the way her cousin talks. The last line says something she does NOT love---bedtime! So I had my kids make a list of things they LOVE! And one thing at the end that they do not love. It was fun watching them make the lists, I think I could have written it for many of them, because I feel like I know them so well. :)

I love that she included "words"!

I don't love chihuahuas! :)

How cute is it that he used parentheses correctly! :)

So the consensus is that bathtime and cleaning are definitely unliked by my kiddos!

  2. Awww! You are too kind! Your comments always make my day! :) I actually made a list like that when I was in high school-I got to over 300 things, I wish I could find that-would probably be interesting to see how much has changed! :)
