Creativity is an important skill that I feel like we should set the foundation for in Kindergarten. Throughout the year I assess my students' growth in creativity by using Divergent Art. We give them a squiggle or shape and see what they can turn it into. Do they use the shape in their design? Do they come up with an idea that is unique compared to their classmates?
Since tomorrow we are celebrating the 100th day, I gave my students the number 100 and asked them to turn that into something. It was challenging for them, but I can see where they really came up with some creative ideas!
