So I wanted to make sure to get an initial writing sample from the first week for their portfolios. We read the story:
It's about a girl who doesn't just want to wear the ordinary school uniform and finds a trunk of vintage accessories to spice it up a little bit. About being yourself and that it's good to stand out and take risks.
I asked the kids to write about why they were unique. I love to look at beginning work because I know they will definitely understand this concept better in a few months. Here are just a few:
What a fun writing activity!!!

Thanks! I'm trying to get some beginning of the year writing samples for their portfolios. :)
DeleteSome artists you have this year!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the different nail colors in the last pic, and the "I am unique because I am unique":).
That one was my favorite too! :)
DeleteI adore the pictures they drew...especially the one about painting her nails at Grandma's! Pre-k and K illustrations make me so happy. My 4 year old recently drew a shark for my mom and I wanted to keep it so badly. It was basically a sideways gray smiley face with a fin on top of it.
ReplyDeleteI like looking at kid work too Brandy. The shark sounds very creative!:)
DeleteThat's so cute. " I am unique because I'm a girl" made me smile :)
